Active climate protection at XLC - paper instead of plastic

The XLC parts and accessories brand will in future replace the plastic outer packaging of many products with transparent and biodegradable glassine bag

The Parts and Accessories brand XLC will replace the plastic outer packaging of many products with transparent and biodegradable glassine bags.

Some products from the XLC range only require outer packaging for transport to protect the goods from dirt, moisture or scratches. Once the article arrives at the retailer, it is hung on the wall or sorted on the shelf without the outer packaging using a header card or hang tag. This outer packaging - previously made of plastic - is no longer up-to-date and will be replaced by packaging made of transparent glassine paper at XLC in the future.

In times of environmental pollution caused by microplastics, XLC is setting a very clear signal for climate protection and sustainability with this approach. Glassine is produced on the basis of cellulose (raw material extraction is based on thinning woods - no clearing of entire forest areas) and is 100% recyclable and fully compostable according to EN13432. The paper contains no chemicals and no coating. The stationary trade can dispose of the bags with the waste paper, the online trade can continue to use the outer packaging for shipping to the end customer.

XLC products, which do not require any special protection during transport, have been delivered to the retailer without unnecessary outer packaging for some time. For many other products, the outer packaging has been greatly reduced in size, thus saving up to 50% in packaging material.

With this measure, XLC joins a series of sustainable projects that are given top priority by the Accell Group within the framework of the company's corporate social responsibility for the coming years.
